Our nursery ethos is: "Children learn through play and the nursery is an extension of home".

The Keyworker System

Each child has a nursery nurse who is responsible for passing on and receiving information on a regular basis. They also maintain and update records of development on each of their children. These records are available to parents at any time, including parent's evenings.

Our qualified staff are trained in first aid and child protection procedures. A first aid book is kept in each room. Parents sign a 'loco parentis' and registration form detailing any particular needs for their child.

It is central to the philosophy of the nursery that all staff should be very positive at all times towards the children, towards each other and towards the nursery.

How to Find Us

Our nursery is situated on a hill overlooking picturesque Oban bay in an attractive modernised building that was originally opened as a school in 1888

From Crianlarich

On entering Oban on the A85, proceed through the 30mph signs and take the second turning on the left into Croft Road. At the junction at the bottom of the hill take a sharp right and First Steps Nursery is 50 metres on the left.

From Campbeltown

On entering Oban on the A816, proceed through the town centre following the signs for Crianlarich. There are two round-abouts next to the Corran Halls. Turn right at the first and left at the second to go up the hill. Take the first right turn into Breadalbane Street. At the junction at the bottom of the hill turn left and immediately left again into Croft Road. First Steps Nursery is about 150 metres on the right near the top of the hill.
